With the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Christ’s disciples, the time of salvation, the Divine work of redemption has been completed, the fulness revealed, all gifts bestowed: it belongs to us now to “appropriate” these gifts, to be that which we have become in Christ: participants and citizens of His Kingdom.
Weekly bulletins are distributed every Sunday at the Divine Liturgy. They contain Sunday scripture readings, commemorate birthdays and anniversaries, communicate parish announcements, and highlight divine services in the coming week. You can also download the latest bulletin in PDF format here.
On the great night of Pascha, the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord, the clergy and faithful of Holy Trinity Cathedral celebrate the Nocturnes, Procession, Matins, and Divine Liturgy. On the eve, Holy Saturday, they sang the Vesperal Liturgy. On Sunday afternoon, we continued the celebration with Paschal Vespers.
During this week, the Fifth Week of Great Lent, we celebrate additional church services that are a little longer. This is by design, and helps us intensify our Lenten efforts of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. If a believer is accustomed to attending only the Sunday Liturgy during Great Lent, then the opportunity for a deeper Lenten experience will, alas, be missed. What should one expect this week? On Wednesday evening, at the Presanctified Liturgy, the usual Psalms will be replaced…
On Sunday, January 21, the clergy and faithful of Holy Trinity Cathedral gathered with our Archbishop Benjamin to honor Archpriest John Takahashi, Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral. Father John is retiring (or, as he would prefer to say, graduating) after almost twelve years of pastoral service with us at the Cathedral. May God grant his servants, the Archpriest John and Matushka Robin many years!
